The Technique

Marquetry is a very old handmade art that reached its splendor in eastern cultures several thousand years before Christ. It appeared in Europe in the 13th century but it became notorious during the 17th century mainly in furniture making.

Marquetry is scarcely used now a days is tending to disappear crushed by modern technology which favors mass production.

Marquetry consists of cutting and assembling, in a completely manual way, very thin woods which must maintain their original hues and characteristics.
